The house shape is a recurring motif in my work, a form that instantly feels familiar yet invites reinterpretation. In Black Storm, a small zebrano house rises from a deep black oak base, its texture preserved through a careful treatment of vinegar and steel wool.
The interior of the box is lined with gold leaf, while the house on the tilted lid features subtle gilded accents that catch the light. A golden key, held securely by a magnet, rests within — a quiet symbol of home, intimacy, and shared moments.
This piece contrasts the drama of dark, textured oak with the warm sparkle of gilded highlights, creating a dialogue between raw strength and delicate elegance. Black Storm is a contemplative work for collectors who value handcrafted woodwork, one-of-a-kind design, and the integration of art, craftsmanship, and natural materials.
