About the Artist

I am fascinated by materials; their texture, warmth and the stories they hold. Guided by craftsmanship and curiosity, I explore the meeting point between art and design, between tradition and contemporary form.

Wood often serves as my starting point: a living material that invites dialogue. Through careful making, I seek harmony, refinement and presence. Creating objects that invite both touch and contemplation.

Career Path

My career has followed a winding path; one shaped by curiosity, craftsmanship and the joy of making.

I was trained as a goldsmith and during my internship I was encouraged to pursue autonomous art. This led me to study sculpture at the academy of fine art, after which I ran my own studio for several years.

Later, I worked for many years as a technical teacher at a school. From my colleagues there, I learned a great deal about woodworking and gradually I became more and more fascinated by the material itself. I wanted to learn all I could about it.

Through various courses, trainings and workshops in woodworking techniques, craft and art eventually came together: Wood Coffee and Art.

Inspiration

Inspiration finds me in the world around me. In materials, nature, travel and shared moments over coffee with fellow makers.

My inspiration flows from many sources:
• Wood and other rich materials that call for attention, care and skilled craftsmanship.
• Nature: the complex shapes of seed pods, the structure of a flower, the texture of bark and the subtle patterns of leaves.
• The beauty of iconic and essential forms and of everyday objects.
• Travelling: discovering new cultures, nature’s diversity, crafts and materials.
• Fellow makers and artists. Sharing a cup of coffee with other artists and makers is a moment of true connection, a setting where ideas flow and mutual inspiration often arises.

What I Make

Luxury handcrafted art and design; unique, high-end creations from the Netherlands, merging fine art with timeless craftsmanship.

Each piece is crafted by hand, combining traditional techniques with a refined contemporary sensibility.

Luxury handcrafted wooden boxes. Unique pieces made from rich materials such as leather, felt, brass and gold leaf.
• Sculptures and wall art in wood. One-of-a-kind works that blend fine materials like copper, felt, wool, gold leaf, glass and brass.
• Small cabinets and design objects. Unique creations in wood and other sumptuous materials.

Materials and Techniques

I work with beautiful wood in combination with generous, luxurious materials such as gold leaf, brass, copper, leather, felt and the finest quality wool.

My techniques include woodcarving, gilding, dovetail joinery, forging, soldering and casting.

By creating unusual combinations, I explore the dialogue between materials: discovering surprising connections that give rise to unique sculptures with recognisable forms and a distinctive visual language.

My work seeks a moment of stillness. A harmonious balance between material, shape and presence.
